Tiny Beautiful Things - Book Recommendation

Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life From Someone Who's Been There by Cheryl Strayed

“Nobody will protect you from your suffering. You can't cry it away or eat it away or starve it away or walk it away or punch it away or even therapy it away. It's just there, and you have to survive it. You have to endure it. You have to live through it and love it and move on and be better for it and run as far as you can in the direction of your best and happiest dreams across the bridge that was built by your own desire to heal...The best thing you can possibly do with your life is to tackle the motherfucking shit out of it.”

Tiny Beautiful Things is a compilation of anonymous letters to an advice column for The Rumpus, known as Dear Sugar. Sugar, who was anonymous at the time (and later came out as Cheryl Strayed) wrote subsequent agony-aunty style responses to all of these anonymous letters, tackling every single issue of life in all its raw complexity. Some of the letters are laugh out loud hilarious, some are shocking, some are heartbreaking, and most reassure you that we are all struggling to make sense of the experiences we endure on this journey of life.

Reading this book gives you the most beautiful insight into making peace with what life deals you, it is heart-warming, heart-pulling and heart-wrenching. Cheryl Strayed has this impeccable ability to dissect the complexities of life in the most charming of ways, turning heartbreaks into something much less painful to bear. No one speaks to the heart quite like Cheryl, and I cannot recommend this read enough.

You will mourn the end of this book, that is for sure.
